We finally managed to synchronise with Daisuke to film this session in the intimate basement of Echoes in Dalston London. Using an Akai APC40 to control Ableton, Daisuke went about creating this live set of intricate layers of his genre defying sound.
Daisuke had some time before his show to have a chat and give us some insight and understanding into his approach and influences to his sound.
Daisuke Tanabe is a solo live electronic artist and producer from Chiba Japan. A former art student in London with roots in techno and breakbeat, Daisuke has developed his production techniques since the age of 16 to fuse elements of hip hop, electronica, jazz and folk to create his own distinct style and sound.
His debut EP release in 2006 brought him to the attention of Brownswood Recordings Gilles Peterson. After a couple more Eps and a handful of remixes Daisuke went on to release his first album on Japanese independent label Circulations in 2010.
That same year Daisuke met Kidkanevil in London as part of the Red Bull Academy and came together to create the Kidsuke project releasing an album on Project Mooncircle in 2012.
